Feeling Lost with Your Client Process?
Professionally designed templates for every step of the way.
PHASE O1
Client Enquiry
-
If you’re like me, ‘selling’ your services can feel a bit yuck. Try reaching out to new clients or responding to enquiries with a Service & Pricing. This will help you set clear boundaries, confidently communicate your value and attract the right clients — and filter out the wrong ones — from the very first interaction.
-
After a call with a potential client I like to send through a project proposal with the information from the call summarised, a quote and timeline. I typically include a few design package options with deliverables and the cost. This helps us kick the project off on the same page, knowing clearly what they’re looking for!
-
Working with a returning client or on a smaller job? I find a smaller Return Brief great for project where the deliverables and costs are smaller and don’t require the full VIP treatment.
-
A Branding Case Study is a great way to dig deeper into a specific project or industry. I send this to potential clients when pitching to show relevant capabilities.
PHASE 02
Client Onboarding
-
Once the project is locked in it’s time to onboard your client! Sending through a guide introduces them to your process, what’s expected and kicks the project off smoothly, while preempting any questions and saving countless confusing emails.
-
Getting paid and staying on track get’s a whole lot easier with the right files. I like to send through an offical invoice for the project and a payment receipt once the 50% deposit is paid up front, and again when the remainder is paid at the end of the project.
Your client might chose to add something to the project after kickoff, and in this case I send through a quote. When they’re happy with the price I’ll send the invoice and receipt.
PHASE O3
Research & Design
-
Research can take many forms, but I like to run either a full Brand Strategy Workshop or send through a Brand Strategy Questionnaire to better understand the client’s brand and business goals.
-
Here is where the fun really begins! Sending through a Research and Creative Direction helps me align with the client’s visual goals and preferences without spending hours on ideas without being sure it’s what they are looking for.
-
I find sending through a document that outlines how the brand works along with how it looks visually the best way to communicate my ideas. I usually pair this with a video meeting where I walk them though the document.
From here I make any changes and send through a revised version of the template for the client to sign off on.
PHASE O4
Client Offboarding
-
Having a Brand Guidelines document sets your client up for success. The scope of the project determines the style of document I send through.

Sending through an Offboarding Guide give your client all support they need when rolling out their new brand, from file type info to referral incentives. It also includes a request for testimonials which helps your find future clients!
